Il fut un temps: Gonaïves
Une ville d'Haïti

Long before the tearing apart, the Duvalier dictatorship and the devastation by tornadoes, the city of Gonaïves in the 1950s, 1960s and early 1970s was home to a thriving community where mutual aid and respect defined its citizens.

You will have the chance to discover the charm of this corner of the earth as well as its customs and traditions. If, on the other hand, you lived there during one or more of these decades, you will rediscover in all its splendor this city that marked you so much.

In this essay, nothing has been neglected to make the presentation as lively and as enlightened as possible. Education, commerce, the health system, leisure and sports, family relationships, community life and a series of other aspects have been put back on the table to try to understand why people loved to be in this city so much. See for yourself. ROUVIO ST-JEAN, 2007
